CMS Principal

Hello Canadian Middle School students and parents. I am excited to serve as the new Canadian Middle School Principal.  While I am not new to CMS, this will be my first year as the CMS Principal, having served as the CMS/CHS assistant principal since the 2019-2020 school year. This will be my ninth year working for Canadian ISD and my fourteenth year in education. My family enjoys living in Canadian, and all that comes with the small-town atmosphere. My husband is Josh Longoria, and we have three children:  Maddlynn, Wyatt, and Doc. We are excited about the new adventures this year will bring as we continue participating as part of the Canadian Wildcat Family.

CMS students and staff will have a year of learning, laughing, and building one another up. One important aspect of working at CMS is the building of meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and community members. You can expect our staff to work diligently to ensure our students will be exposed to an engaging and challenging curriculum while practicing good character and integrity. Canadian Middle School has a great staff and strong teachers who value work ethic, responsibility, and a can-do attitude.

One of our campus goals this year is to keep parents informed on student progress. We aim to continue working together to identify strengths and weaknesses and overcome challenges. New for this year, student report cards will be online through parent portal. Along with parent portal, parents will be notified of their child’s math and reading grade level assessments performed through IXL. Student progress will be assessed and reported to parents every six weeks. We look forward to partnering with parents to serve our students and ensure they have a great educational experience. As always, we encourage parents to communicate with teachers as their number one source of information.

We are also implementing ARC (Academic Readiness Class) this year, a program to help students who might struggle to complete their class assignments. Students who are assigned to ARC will report during advisory to finish their assignment.  I am hopeful this will help students stay caught up with learning and grades.

I am looking forward to a great school year. CMS will have an open house on September 27th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. If you have questions about the 2022-2023 CMS school year, please email me at megan.longoria@canadianisd.net.

I am excited to be the Canadian Middle School principal for the 2022-2023 school year, and I can’t wait to see all of my middle school friends on August 17th!
