**Assignments can be completed in any order.**

 

Recommended time students should work on assignments per day/week:

These assignments should not take more than 1 ½ this week. (Depending on how long it takes to complete the reading.)

Basic Parent Directions for the Assignment this Week:

1. The Wednesday Wars (pdf of book and audio link under “other helpful information.” Students can access the link by clicking on it and the book and/or audio will load. Students can read Chapter 4 (December) all in one day or read 10 – 15 minutes each day.

2. While reading, students will be looking for examples of figurative language found in the chapter. (Such as: similes, metaphors, alliteration, personification, hyperbole.) Students will then open the form (Assignment #2) and complete the form using the directions given. Students will need to use the book for this as they will be copying sentences from the book.

3. Assignment #3 – students open the form by clicking on the link. This assignment asks students to come up with sentences of their own using figurative language. Students are to write complete sentences using the example of figurative language asked for in the question.

4. IXL GG.1 – students access their IXL account and complete 8th grade GG.1. In order for the assignment to be deemed “complete,” students must score at least an 80 on the assignment.
